October half-term heat is closer to Manchester than you think

Summary

With the nights drawing in and the temperature dropping, hot weather may feel like a distant memory – but actually a dose of sunshine could be closer than you think this October half-term.

Manchester Airport is proud to offer the people of the North the biggest range of destinations of any UK airport outside London, including many where the October temperature is well into the 20s and even the 30s – and you’ll be surprised at how close some of them are.

Here we look at some of the hottest destinations accessible directly from the UK’s global gateway in the North this Autumn.

Mexico - Cancun – average October temperature 32c

It’s not the closest destination, with average flight times above 10 hours, but if you’re after an October beach holiday where temperatures are above 30c then Cancun is within easy reach from Manchester Airport.

It’s actually one of the best times of year to visit the Mexican east coast as April to September are much hotter – up to an average of 37c - and wetter.

Cancun is well known for partying but there’s also the Yucatan Peninsula where swimmers and divers can enjoy beautiful warm waters and explorers can look around well preserved ancient ruins.

Morocco – Marrakech or Agadir – average October temperature 28c

Closer to home with flights from Manchester taking just under four hours is Morocco. Despite the relatively short flight temperatures still push 30c in Morocco during October.

From Manchester you can fly directly to either Agadir or Marrakech. Both offer high temperatures perfect for soaking up the sun as well as a wide range of attractions from famous markets and mosques to beaches and desert treks.

Spain – Alicante – Average October temperature 25c

You can be in Alicante in just two hours if you fly from Manchester and once you’re there you’ll be enjoying temperatures in the mid-20s.

Alicante is near Valencia on the Mediterranean cost. Golfers can enjoy courses with spectacular sea views and sunbathers will enjoy San Juan beach. Alicante has a rich history having been a centre for many Mediterranean civilisations over the centuries.

Many other parts of Spain including Seville and Mallorca enjoy temperatures comfortably above 20c this time of year too and are accessible in little over two hours.

Barbados – average October temperature 31c

With its crystal-clear seas, palm trees and white sand, Barbados is the epitome the beach holiday.

You can fly directly from Manchester to Bridgetown where you’ll be able to enjoy average daytime temperatures above 30c even in October.

Barbados is famed for many things – from the aforementioned beaches and snorkelling, to great food and drink. You can also explore secluded coves and botanical gardens, colonial architecture, bustling towns, and much more.

Turkey – average October temperature 27c

You can fly to no fewer than five different Turkish airports from Manchester so you’re spoilt for choice. Regardless of whether you choose Istanbul, Izmir, Bodrum, Dalaman or Antalya you’ll find warm weather in under five hours.

Turkey has an enormous array of attractions on offer from bustling markets to tranquil beaches and can be very affordable if you’re looking to get the most out of your money.

Middle East – Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Bahrain – average October temperature 35c

Manchester Airport offers an unrivalled number of flights to middle eastern destinations from the North. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Bahrain are all accessible in under eight hours and offer blistering hot temperatures.

Although they’re all on the Persian Gulf, they have very different characteristics and offerings – so tailor your trip to suit your tastes. The one thing you won’t have to consider is cold weather!

Direct flights from Manchester to the Middle East are operated by various airlines including Emirates and Etihad.

Portugal - Faro – average October temperature 23c 

Just three hours in the air gets you to Faro, capital of the Algarve region of Portugal, which is famous for its excellent weather late in the year.

It’s also famous for wine, golf, beaches, history, fishing, food, architecture and much more – so whatever you’re after the Algarve is likely to please.

Egypt – Cairo – average temperature 28c

Another North African destination with temperatures pushing 30c at this time of year is Egypt. You can now fly directly to Cairo from Manchester in five hours meaning the hot weather and spectacular sights of the Egyptian capital have never been easier to reach.

You can also fly directly to other Egyptian destinations including the world-famous resort of Sharm El-Sheikh directly from Manchester – all of them guarantee hot weather.
